Interoperability and digital architecture

ICT is utilised in education and training to develop, deliver and share digital teaching and learning resources and courses, professional learning resources, and to develop and share knowledge.  It also supports the use of student management systems that can measure attendance, retention, literacy and numeracy outcomes, and the provision of portable student records.

AICTEC plays a strategic role in identifying cross-sectoral levers and opportunities for the development of nationally compatible standards that will enable the transparent and portable systems required by the Digital Education Revolution.

National Interoperability and Digital Architecture Advisory and Reference Groups

Formed in October 2008, the National Interoperability and Digital Architecture Advisory Group, and its Reference Group, provide AICTEC with expert cross-jurisdictional and cross-sectoral advice on a technical framework to support online learning and the implementation of the Digital Education Revolution.

The outcomes of the research project, Interoperability Standards Across the Australian Education and Training Sector, will inform the activities of the NIDAAG in 2009.

ICT Standards

ICT standards are developed by a range of international and national bodies and adapted for use in the delivery of education and training.
Links to key standards bodies and documents relevant to education and training are accessed through the Technical Standards section of this website.
