Digital Education Revolution (DER)
Provision of advice on the implementation of the Digital Education Revolution (DER)
The Commonwealth and State and Territory Governments have agreed to work in partnership with each other and with the non government schooling sector, VET and higher education sectors to implement the Digital Education Revolution’s vision of:
- Students undertaking challenging and stimulating learning activities that are supported by access to global information resources and powerful tools for information processing, communication and collaboration;
- Teachers devising student-centric programs of learning that address agreed curriculum standards, accompanied by contemporary learning resources and activities;
- Parents supporting their child’s learning by monitoring programs and progress, and by communicating with teachers online; and
- Commonwealth, States and Territories committing to a national ICT infrastructure including access to:
- broadband bandwidth;
- digital learning resources and activities;
- national curriculum; and
- ongoing ICT professional development for teaching staff.
To this end, AICTEC will continue to:
- provide ongoing strategic, cross-jurisdictional and cross-sectoral policy advice to Council of Australian Government (COAG) and Ministers through the Ministerial Council for Education, Early Childhood Development and Youth Affairs (MCEECDYA) and Ministerial Council for Tertiary Education and Employment (MCTEE) on the implementation of the Digital Education Revolution;
- facilitate coherence and flexibility in the overall implementation of the Digital Education Revolution by addressing national, cross-sectoral ICT policy issues.
AICTEC has contributed to the development of two strategic documents which guide the DER. Further information about the Digital Education Revolution is available from http://www.digitaleducationrevolution.gov.au.
