Teaching for the Digital Age Advisory Group (TDAAG) Terms of Reference

The Ministerial Council for Education, Employment, Training and Youth Affairs (MCEETYA) supports the Digital Education Revolution as a key strategic initiative in achieving world class standards for Australia’s education and training and has agreed to work cooperatively.

AICTEC provides strategic policy advice on the implementation of the Digital Education Revolution.

Teaching for the Digital Age Advisory Group provides expert cross jurisdictional and sectoral advice on teacher ICT professional learning activities which will support the implementation of the Digital Education Revolution.  The Advisory Group, in consultation with the Reference Group:

  • Provides advice on a coordinated and coherent approach to teacher professional development in the use of ICT in teaching and learning.
  • Provides advice on a suite of initiatives directed at increasing teacher’s effective use of ICT in teaching that would be eligible to be supported through the Australian Government Quality Teaching Program (AGQTP) for 2009.
  • Develops and oversees implementation of DER Implementation Plan: Teaching for the Digital Age Work Plan (for out of session approval by AICTEC).

The Advisory Group reports to the Australian Information and Communications Technology in Education Committee (AICTEC), and comprises:

  • 1 representative from the Commonwealth (Chair)
  • 2 representatives from the Government Sector
  • 1 representative from the Catholic Education
  • 1 representative from the Independent Sector

The Reference Group consists of education professionals, such as school leaders in ICT and the professional associations, and is used as a sounding board and validation process for initiatives proposed in the Draft DER Implementation Plan: Teaching for the Digital Age Work Plan and other activities.

Contact with the Reference Group is by teleconference or by email on an as required basis.

Secretariat support for the Reference Group is provided by the Professional Development Team, Quality Teaching Branch, Schools Teaching, Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).
